What does enterprise content strategy actually cost?
Let’s explore the numbers
WHAT DOES CONTENT STRATEGY COST?
When considering investment in content strategy, the landscape and terminology can be confusing. Independent consultants can charge from $50/hour while big agencies start at $15,000/month. Global consultancies won’t even talk to you without a six-figure commitment.
Rubicon CX offers a number of engagement models, from fixed-time, fixed-price, to time and materials using a scaled or blended right (depending on what works for your engagement), to retainers to secure a set amount of time and advice for a particular time frame.
See how Rubicon CX approaches content strategy investments and pricing below.

These common business needs may help guide your choice
Scenario: Local business or startup needing foundational content strategy.
Budget: $5,000–15,000 (independent consultant)
Rubicon CX fit: Probably not—we’re built for mid-to-large enterprise challenges. We have done these thought for the right project. We could explore pro bono or a discount for something purpose driven like: notnmindful.org.
A platform is a system used to manage a website, making it more easy to build and update. Very few websites these days are coded by hand.
Building it takes a little knowledge, which is were we come in, but we can teach you to maintain it pretty easily.
While there are many plaforms to chose from, we focus on Ghost and WordPress (for the Basic and Standard tiers). Choosing another platform (Qix, Squarespace, Blogger) is totally possible, but it would require custom templates. This isincluded in our Premier tier. For the other tiers, these would come with an additional cost.
Scenario: 50–500 employees, CMS migration or major redesign, flexible timeline.
Budget: $20,000–50,000 (strategy and optional light modeling).
Rubicon CX fit: This is one of our sweet spots.
Scenario: Multi-platform content, personalization, governance across business units.
Budget: $40,000–100,000 (comprehensive content strategy, deep modeling, personalization, and fractional leadership)
Rubicon CX fit: Ideal—enterprise rigor without Big Four cost.
Scenario: Content is one piece of broader transformation involving multiple functions.
Budget: $200,000+ (global consultancy or agency).
Rubicon CX fit: We can partner on the content and experience components.
WHAT’S THE ROI?
The right investment depends on your goals
The question isn’t “What does Rubicon CX cost?” The question is: “What’s the cost of getting content strategy wrong?”
— Launching a redesign with content that doesn’t serve users
— Migrating to a new CMS without a clear content model
— Building personalization without structured content
— Creating governance chaos that slows every future decision
We help you avoid those costs by getting the strategic foundation right from the start.
Beyond traffic & leads
When people ask about content marketing ROI, they’re usually thinking about blog posts generating leads and revenue. That’s useful for agencies focused on production.
But enterprise content strategy ROI works differently—and compounds over time.
WHAT YOU AREN’T PAYING FOR
We’re are strategists and system thinkers, not a content factory. Rubicon CX engagements don’t typically include:
— High-volume blog writing or content production (we’re not cost effective here, even though we have the capability)
— SEO keyword research and optimization at scale
— Social media management or posting
— Paid media strategy or management
If you need those services, we can recommend excellent partners—or help you build the strategic foundation so your team or agency can execute more effectively.
